Meetings

Our meeting place at the Shattuck Hotel is now available through March 2006, but is likely to not be available starting April 2006. Board members need to start looking into alternative
sites starting with April, 2006 meeting.

Robohelp class

Class is now full. - All has been prepared for the class. Kim wants to utilize the Chapter's projector for practice before the class.  Jim will make arrangements for her to pick it up.

January 2006 party meeting

Planning is ongoing. - Melody Brumis will run the party. We still need volunteers for setup and cleanup labor.  There is a CD player, microphone, speakers in the room. Jim volunteered to organize CD music. - Joe sent email blast announcing the party to our chapter email list. Continued discussion to find good door prizes, such as eletronic gadgets or software. Board members to think about more items.  Currently, we have the
following:

·         Complete Framemaker 7.2 software package.
·         Complete Altedero Softline software package (Java
·         development software).
·         A plug-in for Word conditional text.

We are making contacts at the following organizations to pitch for more prizes:

·         Adobe (Joe)
·         Macromedia (Joe)
·         SF Jazz (Joe)
·         Yoshi's (Joe)
·         Freight and Salvage (Joe)
·         Jupiter Bar and Grill (Joe)
·         Berkeley Repertory Theatre (Joe)
·         Greek Theatre (Jim)
·         Aurora Theatre (Jim)
·         Cal Performances (Jim)
·         La Taza Restaurant (Jim)
·         Pizzaiolo Restaurant (Jim)

Other board members are encouraged to add to the list, with the restrictions that the prizes be local and the events be sometime in the January/February timeframe!

There are tables being supplied by the facilities, but no tablecloths.  Joe has made arrangements for cloth tablecloths, and there was consensus that the tablecloths should be cleaned after the party at Chapter expense (to be formally approved at the next Leadership
Meeting).  The cost of the party was discussed, examining the amount to be charged, resulting in consensus that the costs would be $28 after the Friday before the party and at the door, and $22 before the Friday.  There has been no volunteer to cook for the party, so some type of prepared food must be purchased.  atering was discussed and rejected as too expensive for the budget of the party.  Alcohol at the party was discussed, with some consideration that the party is already overwhelming the volunteer support without the addition of alcohol (purely a logistical issue).  Joe to decide on the alcohol, but the facilities have a full bar: we might need to employ a bartender.  Insurance is being covered by STC, and should be very inexpensive.

Programs

November meeting postcard failed to be generated. Valerie was to forward the file to Joe, but a new baby interfered (congratulations on the new child, Valerie!).  Joe will get the file, and generate a card for the party.  Jim will assume production of the cards starting with the February meeting.

The February, March, and April meetings are now scheduled with speakers.  Val Swisher will do the April meeting on some topic related to 'Striking Out on Your Own".
