STC BERKLEY BOARD MEETING AUG 10, 2005

Robohelp class discussion:

Kim to reserve room for Sept or Oct, depending on her schedule. Room will cost around $250. Price will be $40 STC members, $55 non-members. Refundable only if student cancels 2 weeks ahead of class date. Enroll irst come first serve, 12 maximum. Ben and Eunice will manage wait list if people want out. Handle registration via check, mail to our PO Box. Publicize on website, a few lines on meeting post card referring to website, email blast. Advertise to Berkeley chapter first, and then other chapters depending on response. Eunice to write up all publicity info.

Survey discussion:

Valerie to add one question concerning STC-Berkeley chapter membership status. Will use the survey service for one month. Want to give notice and conduct survey in Sept.

Valerie:

Valerie to resign in October to prepare for her new family. Will send contact info and other resources to Joe.

Phone tree discussion:

Unresolved overlap with Sept survey, so we will not do this in August.

Chapter Service award nomination:

Beau to help Board by providing deadline info. Refer to information here: http://www.stc.org/pdf_files/ad-62-03.pdf. Ben sees deadline of Nov 30 on last page of pdf.

Tech Communication Competition:

Touchstone not happening in 2005. Richard agreed to submit proposal to have the Gordon Scholarship Fund committee manage the project. Bboard agreed to support and encourage the committee and to share the risk. Richard to send proposal on management of a basic competition to the Board this week.
