Volunteers perform all chapter work, and we welcome the efforts of new members. Taking an active role in the chapter not
only guarantees contact with other technical communicators who are willing and able to help you find a better job, but
also provides a fun and rewarding way to increase your skills and grow in the profession. There are many creative ways
for you to become active in STC. To volunteer in any capacity, contact
Richard Mateosian (volunteers@stc-berkeley.org)

Write for the Newsletter
Want to see your name in print? The Ragged Left editor is looking for interesting articles every month, and you can be published with a byline.
It's that simple! Your article might be a book review,
an interview, a critique of a class you've taken, a summary of a conference you've attended, or information on any number of wide-ranging
topics communicators would find interesting. We need regular columns with new-member profiles, news about members moving
up and changing jobs, summaries of the monthly meetings, the latest about changing technologies, and stories about good writing.
Email your offer to volunteer to the Ragged Left Editor: Jennie Abbingsole (newsletter@stc-berkeley.org).
Help Make Our Berkeley STC Web Site Better
Our web pages have recently been redesigned, and we are next planning on expanding the web site. Opportunities may be available to assist expanding our job listings, chapter news, further links to other organizations, and in other tasks that we haven't even thought of yet! If you want to volunteer to improve our Chapter's website, contact
Jim Dexter (internet@stc-berkeley.org)
.
Schmooze and Make Nice
Every month at our meetings, new members and potential members visit for the first time. You could be a friend in the
crowd who acts as a host or hostess to these newbies by making a point of being friendly, answering questions, and helping
them get oriented to the chapter. Remember what it was like when you were the newbie?
Coordinate Volunteers
Helping members get involved in ways that benefit them the most is not rocket science! The chapter needs you to help them
find a niche!
